‘Hot’ technical workshop in Kroměříž (CZ)
Despite of furlough season (and hot summer weather) the League of Ecological Alternatives (LEA) organized already the second technical workshop called ‘Current pulses to the expansion of solar thermal installations at the municipal level‘. It was a part of three days long conference ‘Alternative energy sources / Sustainable supply of buildings with heat and cold‘, which took place in Kroměříž (Moravia) on 13th to 15th July, 2010.
The conference proceeded in three sections, which focused among others on utilization of solar and biomass energy, heating pumps and on energy savings in buildings. The LEA`s workshop on Wednesday 14th July, 2010 explained to almost 50 participants benefits of the Czech Solar League (CSL) and the RES Champions League (RES CL) to solar thermal education and practical realization of solar installations in municipalities and introduced deputes of three Czech municipalities (Plzeň, Litoměřice and Hostětín), which ‘scored’ in the 1st year of European competition. Experts and technical staff of cities, towns and villages discussed then e.g. solar news, combination of solar thermal, hybrid and photovoltaic systems for block of flats or concept, realization and monitoring of big solar sets as well as an experience with an out-of-season heat accumulation at the prestige housing estate in Crailsheim. LEA team visited this unique project recently on its way to French city Dunkerque, where the 1st Award Ceremony of RES CL took place. And now LEA presented the project (and the city as the champion of the German Solar League in the category of middle-sized cities) to concerned public. An excursion to Rusava village, which is a long-lasting attendee of the CSL and now of the RES CL as well, preceded the conference on Tuesday 13th July morning. Participants could have seen the biggest solar thermal system at a swimming pool including its technological background (some participants bathed in reheated water) and other solar thermal and photovoltaic systems at the school and the restaurant as well as heating pumps at the school. The excursion to big installation in Rusava was the proper invitation to the LEA’s workshop, where the experts presented to participants the data collection of exact measurements of solar gains from this installation over the past few years as well as deeper technical and economical working context. During the bus journey projected LEA its multimedia CDs with film-strolls around several interesting solar projects in the CZR and Europe. In a form of mini-solar-video-fest offered organizers 35 participants inspirational and actually utilizable experience from thermal installations and reminded in our country still underestimated possibility of solar education with the help of the most illustrative audiovisual resources, which LEA’s informative products offer.
